This goes out to all of you that were rejected for being your pure selves at a time where acceptance of your authenticity by those around you was imperative for optimal mental health and well being.
Knowingly or not, 'they' played a part in shattering it, yet here you are all the same. Maybe it's because deep down you always knew you were meant for something big. What that was, you didn't know. You just felt a constant tiny flame burning within you, guiding you until that day the flame turned into a raging fire of purpose.

French philosopher Henri Bergson was noted in saying, “Some are born with spiritual immune systems that sooner or later give rejection to the illusory worldview grafted upon them from birth through social conditioning. They begin sensing that something is amiss and start looking for answers. Inner knowledge and anomalous outer experiences show them a side of reality others are oblivious to, and so begins their journey of awakening. Each step of the journey is made by following their heart instead of following the crowd and by choosing knowledge over the veils of ignorance.”
Here, he was referring to the black sheep of the world. Ostracised for the distinct way of looking at things but so needed in the rumblings of revolutions both now and those of the past.
All those times that stand out to you in some kind of traumatised nostalgia, you probably didn't realise it then but those were the times that made you ready for whatever you needed to be prepared for right now.
When you were excited to show something you poured your heart and soul into creating, only to be laughed at because it was "weird".
When you saw the injustice in a situation and were angered by it but you were too small to do anything about it - all the adults went along with it and they didn't listen to you anyway.
When there was an integral part of you that was different to the rest of the crowd and so you hid it because you knew that if you shared it, there would be serious repercussions.
When you were horrible to others just because you thought it was what you had to do to fit in....you were tired of feeling so alone.
When your individuality was made fun of.
When your ideas were too crazy to be entertained, only to find that you were way ahead of your time.
When you were the one that felt guilt and shame for those horrible things done to you.
When you were scared of a wonderful gift you possessed because of the dogma you were drowning in, only to find that if that gift was nurtured, you would have been more human and whole than ever.
When you were told that who you are is wrong and that a parental figure/God would punish you for it.
This is what I'm hoping - that you finally realise that all those different, quirky bits about you, those parts of you that you hid for so long were the most beautiful parts of you after all and so you shine them with all your might now that you know better.
In a world that encourages going with the crowd, going against the flow is inspired and according to some of the greatest thinkers of our time, emotionally intelligent.
You are here, your point of difference to the rest of the world is here for a reason. You and your individuality, your quirks, your creativity is needed.
It is with art that we dismantle oppressive power systems. This is how we spread light, love and peace.
To all my black sheep, I see you and you are so fucking beautiful.
Now is your time to shine! Practice being your most authentic self and see the world change for the better because of you.
